Privacy policy

Daven is built to work without an account. By default, everything you do — the prayer text you read, calendar and zmanim calculations, your preferences, bookmarks, notes, and reading progress — is stored only on your device.

When you choose to sync

If you create an account and enable cloud sync, we process your email address and the preferences, bookmarks, notes, and reading progress you choose to sync. This is used only to provide the sync feature across your devices. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for cross-app tracking or advertising.

Location

Zmanim are calculated on your device. To find where “here” is, Daven uses one of the methods you choose: your device’s GPS location (with your permission, when the app is in use); a city, town, or ZIP you type; or a preset. When you use GPS, your coordinates are sent to Apple’s geocoding service to turn them into a place name. When you type a place to search, that text is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding service to look up its coordinates and timezone. If you tap “use my location” without granting GPS, Daven may request an approximate city from an IP-based service (ipapi.co or ipwho.is). Aside from these lookups, your coordinates are used for on-device calculations; a location you choose is also synced with your preferences if you enable cloud sync. Daven does not track your movements or keep a location history.

Camera

The optional tefillin mirror shows a live front-camera preview on your device only; Daven never records, stores, or uploads that image.

Anonymous analytics

To understand which features are used and to fix problems, Daven records a small set of anonymous product events (for example, a screen was opened or a purchase was started) tied to a random installation identifier — never your name, email, prayer content, notes, or location. These are stored on Daven’s own Supabase backend and are not shared for advertising. You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Account & privacy.

Service providers

Subscriptions are processed by Apple; entitlement management uses RevenueCat, which receives the transaction and app-user identifiers needed to manage your purchase and restore access. Optional cloud authentication, sync, and analytics storage use Supabase. Location lookups use Apple, Open-Meteo, and (for the IP estimate) ipapi.co or ipwho.is. Each processes data only to provide its part of the service.

Your control

You can turn off analytics, disable sync, or permanently delete your synced account and all cloud data in Settings. Local data is removed by deleting the app. Deleting a synced account does not cancel an Apple subscription — that is managed in your Apple ID settings. Server records are kept only as reasonably required for legal, payment, fraud-prevention, and security obligations.

Children

Daven is not designed to collect personal information from children, and no account is required to use the app.
